Offering gentle, professional counselling for adults – with support for anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, relationship challenges, identity issues, and more.
Hello, I’m Mary - a qualified Humanistic counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer both in-person counselling from my home in Brighton and Hove, and online sessions for those further afield. I have experience working in the NHS counselling for anxiety and depression, and I have also worked as a listening volunteer for Samaritans, supporting people in acute distress.
My approach is holistic and person-centred. I see you as a whole person - not just a set of symptoms, and I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and meaningful change. I work with empathy, authenticity, and deep respect for your unique experience. I won't offer quick fixes or tell you what to do. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you as you explore your thoughts and feelings, reconnect with your sense of self, and find your own way forward.
My training draws on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Gestalt therapy, mindfulness-based techniques, and creative methods, - especially helpful when words aren’t enough. I also have a deep personal and professional interest in Jungian ideas, particularly around identity, personal meaning, dreams, and the unconscious. These influences support a deeper exploration of the self and the symbolic patterns that can shape our lives.
Outside of my counselling work, I’m a busy mum of three. I have a long-standing interest in meditation, Buddhism, and fitness - all of which inform my belief in the mind-body connection and the importance of balance and presence in daily life.

I provide a safe and private space where you can talk freely about what matters to you. In my practice confidentially is central to my practice - this is your space to give voice what feels difficult, unclear, or unsaid.
Life challenges such as relationship issues, anxiety, depression, or stress can leave us feeling stuck, isolated or overwhelmed. Speaking these experiences aloud in therapy can ease the burden and open up new ways of understanding yourself and your situation. Together, we can explore what lies beneath these struggles and discover new paths toward change, acceptance, or resolution in a way that feels right for you.
Through our work together, you can begin to understand yourself more deeply and recognise patterns in how you respond to challenges and the reasons behind them. With greater insight comes the freedom to choose differently, and to move towards ways of living that feel healthier and more authentic for you.
Life can be overwhelming, and at times it can feel like too much to carry on your own.
I work with people across Brighton & Hove, both in person and online. Clients come to me with a wide range of challenges, including:
I offer a safe, confidential space in Brighton & Hove where you can speak freely, feel truly heard, and receive professional support.
I work from my home practice, located on the border between Brighton and Hove. It’s a central and easily accessible location, within walking distance of many areas and well-served by public transport - several bus routes stop less than a minute away.
Please note that there are steps leading up to the front door, so unfortunately the space is not accessible for those who are unable to manage stairs.
For clients who are further afield or prefer remote sessions, I also offer counselling online.
I offer a free, no-obligation phone or video call, using the platform that works best for you. This gives us a chance to:
